Philip, son of Philip Thress and his wife Margaret, nee Fick, was born at Pomeroy, Ohio, December 15, 1866. Baptized in infancy, he was, at the proper age confirmed in the Lutheran Church of his native town. On February 5, 1891 he was united in marriage with Miss Ella Douglas of Newcomb, Tenn. To this union two sons and three daughters were born. In 1902 he came to Columbus. Uniting with St. Peter's Church in 1928, he remained a faithful member until his death which occurred Wednesday, May 26, 1937. For two and one half years he was confined to his bed. Regularly during this time he received the ministrations of the Word and partook of the Lord's Supper. He attained the age of 70 years 5 months and 11 days. The funeral was held May 28. He leaves to mourn his wife, five children, one brother, three sisters, and eight grand-children. May the God of grace be their support.

William P. Thress, 51, of 3173 E. 13th Ave., died Sunday in Mt. Carmel Hospital. He was a supervisor at the Ohio State University laundry. Surviving are his wife, Nevada; one son, William, Jr.; three step-sons, Harley, LeRoy, and WIlliam Huston; one step-daughter, Mrs. Helen Hilton; brother Dexter; three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Ulrich, Mrs. Margaret Nolan and Mrs. Theresa West; two grandchildren, and nine step-children. Mr. Thress was a member of Neoscacia Lodge, Masons; Corintian Chapter, Eastern Star and East Side Civic Association. Friends may call at Fail funeral home, where service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Loving memories never die, As years roll on and days pass by. In my heart a memory is kept, Of one I loved and will never forget.

James D. Thress 1892 - 1966 Mr. James Dedrick Thress, 73, of Route 4, Salem, (Hanging Rock Section) passed away Tuesday in a local hospital. He was a retired foreman for the N&W, a member of York Masonic Lodge #563, Columbus, Ohio, and Kazim TempleShrine, ROanoke. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie Beeton Acord Thress, Rt. 4, Salem; one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Matheny, Roanoke; three sisters, Mrs. R.J.Nolan, Mrs. H.H. West and Mrs. C.L. Ulrich, all of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren and one great grandson. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Chapel Friday at 10:00a.m. by the Rev. William Milholland, Internment will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery with grave services by Lakeland Lodge #190, A.F. & A.M. Friends may call at Oakey's.
